Devine Research

Devine Research focuses on critically rethinking contemporary design processes — including more-than-human centered design and the integration of generative AI in design practice.

The research explores the application of digital technologies such as generative AI, projection mapping, advanced sensor technologies, and the development of complex AI-driven content pipelines for interactive installations. By combining emerging technologies with innovative design practices, we create cross-sector applications that encourage sustainable innovation.

Devine Research is currently focused on three projects exploring new applications of AI, design, and technology, with a strong emphasis on social and ethical impact.

The SAIAR Lab combines projection mapping, generative AI workflows, and sensor technology in a mobile installation for exploring, prototyping, and enabling interactive, immersive experiences. More information? Stay up to date with our newsletter.

AID - Artificial Intelligence in Design

Development of an interactive digital framework for the thoughtful integration of generative AI tools within the design process, based on the Double Diamond methodology and with explicit attention to ethical considerations — aiming to support the creation of more creative and ethically responsible outcomes. The Refraxion Framework (AI-Augmented Double Diamond) is currently in development (alpha version), and we are actively seeking support and collaboration for the next phase.

Decentering Design

In Decentering Design, our human-centered design approach is critically questioned, as part of a broader movement advocating a shift from human-centered to more-than-human design. The focus lies on designing for relationships and interactions between humans, non-human beings, and our shared environment. This research resulted in a publication: Decentering Design – Practice in a More-than-human World.
